Bangladesh India Only Test Review

It was a lone test played out in Fatullah (2nd match hosted in its History, previously Oz), which marked Virat Kohli as new regular captain of Team India after MS Dhoni announced retirement in January, earlier this year. This match was also the first match played in June at Bangladesh. As the monsoon season just began, this match also saw rain only as second day was fully washed out and fourth-fifth day could only saw 5 hours play combining both days. Merely 2 days play was possible in the match and it also show slip in ranking of Indian Team from 3rd to 4th spot due to draw.
The good things came out from the match for India were

  • India played with 6-5 combination means 3 fast bowlers and 2 off-spinners
  • Virat Kohli, Test Captain
  • Harbhajan Singh makes comeback after March'13
  • Ashwin Performance - 5 for 87 in 25 overs
  • Bangladesh Team was bowled out in first innings just in 66 overs
What we miss:
  • Lokesh Rahul got injured few days ahead of match
  • Karn Sharma should have been in XI's Team
  • MS Dhoni, the Captain Cool
  • Cheteshwar Pujara was given rest

Kohli on Dhoni :

"Now that he's not there, you sometimes do feel he's going to pop uot of somewhere.

My Opinion:
  • India could have started with Karn Sharma in the XI
  • It was good to see 6-5 combination
  • I wasn't at first pleased  to see Harbhajan making comeback as he didn't perform well in  the last two Ranji Season and he was selected for his IPL performance, which shouldn't be criteria for Test/ODI
  • Harbhajan looked good in the match, to be fair to him'
  • June wasn't the best optiion for cricket in that part of the world
  • Rohit Sharma once again disappoints
