Steps for ticket booking in Irctc

To book Railway tatkal ticket online, please follow the instruction which are given below:-

• Go to Official URL: https://www.irctc.co.in/
• Login with your resigner Username and Password along with Captcha Character as shown on login panel (Which is case sensitive) and for your kind information, It is used for verification of human touch and to stop spammer for unnecessary work or task.
• After Successful Login 
• Please continue to enter code from which station to next station are you willing to travel in India. 
• Select Journey Date in the format DD-MM-YYYY example: 23/08/2015
• Select Ticket Type: E-ticket or I-Ticket (As preferred to you)
• Then Click Submit Button

• Then Select Quota (General, Premium Tatkal, Physically Handicapped, Ladies and Tatkal) from Train Between Stations as you see in above image after clicking submit button following result will appear on the screen with list of train along with Train No, Train Name, From, Departure, to, Arrival, Distance in (KM) and travel timing with days of running and list of train class(1A,2A,3A,SL, CC,).
• Please Select for General Tatkal as of now there is two option for booking train ticket under tatkal scheme one is "Tatkal" and another one is "Premium Tatkal".
• Please select as desire "tatkal"
• Click on specific class to see price and availability like this:

• If ticket is available click on "BOOK Now". You can also book in WL same way.
• Next step will be filing out passengers list and their details like Name, Age and Gender, Berth Preference Senior Citizen and ID Proof Details as shown on below screenshots:-

• after that click on next
• Fill out payment details (You pay with many option like Wallet, Net-banking  Debit Card and Credit Card)
• After successful of payment you will see confirmation of your ticket.
• Now just print it or save paper because you will receive SMS on your mobile which can be shown while traveling to TT and it can be valid and acceptable along with your valid Identity Proof.

Good News: IRCTC Doubles Capacity for Tatkal Bookings

The scramble for booking tatkal tickets in the morning should now be a little bit easier, with IRCTC adding two high-capacity servers that have doubled peak-time efficiency. Tatkal reservations on all Indian trains total roughly 4,00,000 tickets (around 2.5 lakh PNRs) and are considered the hardest to book due to their high demand.

The servers have been operational since the night of June 1, IRCTC said in a statement, raising the booking capacity to over 14,000 tickets per minute from the existing 7,200. The capacity augmentation has been done as an immediate step to cater to the summer-time demand for tatkal tickets, revealed IRCTC Chairman and Managing Director Dr A K Manocha.

"The positive results are already showing," he pointed out. "The measure is vital, considering that 54% train tickets in the country are booked through IRCTC website."
